Kochi: The Kochi Metro has rescheduled its time slots owing to the trial runs and signaling tests as a part of extending the service up to Maharaja’s College junction. The first train will run at 8:00 am from Saturday to September 2. Kochi Metro Rail MD Elias George informed that from September 4 onwards the services will return to normal and start at 6:00 am.

The corporation intends to commission the metro up to the Maharaja’s College junction before the Fifa Under–17 World Cup matches scheduled at Kochi. The trial run and track inspection are already done and what remains is the signal testing. The trains have been delayed for two hours as the signal from Aluva station has to be tested.

The delay is not expected to affect the commuters as there are just around 50-60 commuters in the metro during the early hours. Presently the metro service begins at eight in the morning on all Sundays.
