A day after protest, authorities promise water at Kochi stadium Distribution of water and food will be taken care by the Kerala government. All problems will be solved, nodal officer A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish has said.

Kochi: After the spectators cried hoarse over the non-availability of water during the FIFA U-17 World Cup match in the city, the authorities have finally woken up and assured that the basic amenities will be in place for the next game.

Distribution of water and food will be taken care by the Kerala government. All problems will be solved, nodal officer A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish has said.

During the Group D game between Brazil and Spain at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi Saturday, strict security measures were in place that barred spectators from carrying water bottles or bags inside the stadium. They had to rely on the food and beverage counters to quench their thirst. However, by half-time itself most of the counters had run short of water. And whatever was available, was being sold at exorbitant rates, spectators alleged. A bottle of water, that normally costs Rs 20, was sold for Rs 50.

The irate crowd then even vandalized some of the stalls, it was reported.

On Tuesday, in the first match Spain will take on Niger at 4 pm while DPR Korea will face Brazil at 8 pm.

Later on Friday, in the first match Guinea takes on Germany followed by Spain versus DPR Korea.

On October 8, there will be only one match in the round of 16, while October 22 will witness one quarterfinal match.
